5 home remedies to get rid of neck darkness
Your neck can darken due to hormonal disorders, sun exposure, skin-related conditions, or other health problems. Although not a medical emergency, a dark neck can be bothersome to the eye. It is often challenging to treat, and usually requires a combination of medical treatment and home remedies. If you are undergoing treatment, consult your doctor to know if home remedies shall be followed.
Milk
Milk, buttermilk, and even sour milk can all help lighten skin because they contain lactic acid. Soak a cotton ball in milk and apply it to the affected areas and wash off after 20 minutes. This can be done once or twice every day. Milk also hydrates the skin. However, do not leave it longer, as milk tends to give off a foul smell.
Skin-lightening ubtan
The compounds used in ubtan reduce pigmentation and can even make your neck glow. Ubtan is known to exfoliate the skin and tighten pores. Mix together besan, turmeric powder, lemon juice, and rose water into a paste. Apply it on your neck and leave for 15 minutes until it dries. Rinse it off with lukewarm water. Repeat twice a week.
Potato juice
Potato is known to have bleaching properties and is considered to be a skin-lightening agent. It can also help in removing dark patches to make your skin tone even. Grate a potato and squeeze all the juice out using a strainer. With a cotton ball, apply the juice on your neck and let it dry before rinsing with lukewarm water. Repeat twice daily.
Apple cider vinegar
Apple cider vinegar is rich in acetic acid, which is known to lessen pigmentation. However, apple cider vinegar should be diluted with water in equal parts before applying to the skin, and never applied directly. Leave it for about three minutes and then wash it off. Repeat every day. Remember to moisturize your skin after this, as it makes your skin dry.
Almond oil
Almond oil is loaded with vitamin E which revitalizes the skin making it soft and supple while also improving its complexion. Take some almond oil and mix it with tea tree oil or coconut oil. Massage this concoction on the affected areas for about 10-15 minutes. Almond oil bleaches the skin and the tea tree oil improves blood circulation and heals scars.
