If you want to have fun, without compromising on your health goals, you need to eat smart. Here are five healthy and delicious snack recipes to serve on Diwali and Bhai Dooj.
Baked Chaklis
In a large bowl, mix 1 cup rice flour, 1/2 cup curd, 2 teaspoon sesame seeds, 1 teaspoon chilli powder, 1 teaspoon oil, and salt. Prepare a semi-soft dough. Add the dough to a Chakli press and press out round/spiral shapes on a greased baking paper. Bake the Chaklis in a pre-heated oven at 180°C for 20-25 minutes. Serve with a cup of tea.
Dry fruit Laddoos
Grind one cup chopped dates in a blender and keep aside. Next, finely chop 1/4th cup each of cashew nuts, almonds, figs, pistachios, and raisins. Then heat ghee on low-flame and saute these dry fruits for 4-5 minutes. Add blended dates to the mix. Stir well. Turn off flame. Let the mix cool for 2 minutes. Prepare round laddoos. Store in an airtight container.
Baked Shakkarpare
In a deep pan, add 5 tablespoon milk, 1 tablespoon ghee, 2 tablespoon sugar, and cook on low-flame for 2-3 minutes. Next, sieve 3/4th cup whole wheat flour and some salt into a bowl. Add the milk-ghee-sugar mix to the wheat flour and knead a soft dough. Then cut diamond shapes from it. Finally, bake in a pre-heated oven at 180°C for 8-10 minutes.
Coconut Laddoos
Take some water and 3/4th cup jaggery in a bowl and melt on low-flame. Then turn off flame and let it cool. Filter it using a sieve into a bowl. Then saute one-and-a-half-cup grated coconut in a non-stick pan for 2-3 minutes. Add the jaggery syrup to the coconut and mix well. Let it cook until the moisture evaporates. Finally, roll out round laddoos.
Baked Namakpare
In a bowl, mix together whole wheat flour, all-purpose flour, salt and carom seeds. Add oil and mix it with the flour. Slowly add water and knead until the dough becomes soft. Slice the dough into desired shapes. Arrange them on a baking sheet and bake in pre-heated oven at 180°C for 12-15 minutes. Enjoy these healthy recipes. Happy Diwali and Bhai Dooj!
