On August 17, Ghee Sankranti, also known as Singh Sankranti is being celebrated across India. The day is celebrated when Lord Sun transits from the zodiac sign of Cancer into Leo. For those who have the Sun in Leo in their birth chart, this Sankranti brings good news because according to Vedic astrology, the Sun becomes powerful when it enters the Singh Rashi.

On this day, devotees wake up early to bathe in sacred rivers. They also perform a ceremonial anointment of deities using a blend of Ganges water, cow's milk, and coconut water. This offering is made while chanting the mantra "Om Suryaya Namah" 108 times. Once the worship is complete, devotees present water to the Lord Sun, accompanied by offerings of ghee and ghee-made snacks.

Monsoon ailments

Ghee Sankranti signals relief from monsoon ailments

During monsoon, many health issues like colds, coughs, and viral infections emerge due to factors like humidity and increased vulnerability to infections. The typical ailments associated with the rainy season gradually diminish as the sun takes center stage. This change is thought to happen because the sun can stop germs from growing and can also enhance our immunity through the synthesis of vitamin D.
