Don't eat these fruits at night. Here's why
Consuming fruits is a healthy choice. However, a lot depends on what time you are eating them. Experts believe that savoring certain fruits at night or closer to bedtime can do more harm than good as they are likely to interfere with your sleep cycle and cause disturbances in the body. Here are some of them that you should skip.
Banana
Bananas should be avoided at night as your body takes quite some time to digest them. Additionally, studies have found that eating these potassium-packed, yellow fruits can increase body temperature, which may hinder your sleep. According to Ayurveda, if you are down with the flu, it can aggravate your cold and cough if consumed at night.
Orange
Orange is loaded with vitamin C but it is also quite high in acidic content, which makes it unfit to be consumed right before hitting the sack. The acid in it can lead to heartburn, acidity, or acid reflux when you lie down, causing bedtime discomfort. Not only that, it can also increase your frequency of using the washroom at night.
Watermelon
As watermelon has about 92% water, you should not consume it at night as it can induce overhydration. This can increase your trips to the washroom, keeping your mind alert and your system awake. Also since our digestive power is lower after sunset, digesting watermelon can be a task as it may use a lot of energy when your body tries to rest.
Guava
Eating guava before bed is a bad idea as it is loaded with fiber and can cause gas and bloating if you don't give your body enough time to digest it. You can even experience stomach cramps if you simply sleep after savoring it. If you are eating this fruit at night, make sure you are drinking enough water for proper digestion.
