Foods you consume daily that worsen gut health
Our gut houses more than 100 trillion good bacteria that work for our overall health and wellness. Of the many factors that impact their activity, what you eat throughout the day ranks high as your intestines play a salient role in digestion and absorption of nutrients. There are many foods that although are a part of one's daily diet, damage gut health to bits.
Fried foods
Various human and animal studies have come to light, revealing how the heated oil soaked in fried offerings attacks the healthy bacteria present in one's gut. Not only that, it promotes the growth of harmful bacteria that cause several intestinal ailments like acidity, gas, stomach cramps, bloating, constipation, and diarrhea. Moreover, fried foods are typically high in trans fats which are super unhealthy.
Artificial sweeteners
Another reason (and quite a major one!) why you should steer clear of artificial sweeteners is that they encourage pathogenic changes in your gut and damage healthy bacteria. A study once concluded that many artificial sweeteners increase the risk of glucose intolerance, causing inflammation in the body that becomes an entry door to various chronic diseases like diabetes.
Refined sugar
Consuming excessive refined sugar has been proven to eliminate the good bacteria from your system. A lack of healthy bacteria in the body causes inflammation and makes you more vulnerable to experiencing physical health issues like nausea, gas, irritable bowel syndrome, and constipation as well as mental health issues like stress and anxiety. It's best to avoid sucrose, high-fructose corn syrup, and agave syrup.
Foods containing antibiotics
Now you may wonder if antibiotics are good for health. Well, not always. Antibiotics don't understand the difference between good and bad bacteria and hence, they kill them all. Farmers around the world often treat animals with strong antibiotics to mitigate the risk of developing infections and this continuous exposure makes their products (dairy) unfit for the gut.
