Kapoor gained and lost kilos for Kabir Singh
Kapoor first gained eight kilograms for the film's portions that required him to not be fit. For this, he relied on carb-heavy foods. His workouts were limited to just one hour of lightweight training. The actor then lost about 14 kilograms to play the young Kabir Singh. Kapoor shared that he needed to severely cut the calories he consumed, and had to train harder.
He got extremely lean for Udta Punjab
Kapoor transformed himself into a lean and chiseled body to play the role of a rockstar and drug addict named Tommy Singh in the movie Udta Punjab. The actor had shared multiple videos on Instagram of him preparing for the role, which showed him working out religiously. Captioned "Tommy prep," he was seen running on treadmills, doing lateral pulldowns and pushups in the videos.
Kapoor went on a strict diet for Padmaavat
In order to prepare for his part in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's historical drama Padmaavat, Kapoor had to follow a stringent 40-day diet that limited his daily intake to 50 grams of brown rice and a few steamed veggies. To get a toned physique for his role as Maharawal Ratan Singh, the actor also abstained from sugar and salt.
'Kaminey': One year of dedication
While it was already difficult to play twin brothers with different speech disabilities in Kaminey, Kapoor also had to switch between roles at nearly the same time. Moreover, in one of the scenes Kapoor had to run shirtless along with horses. The actor shared that it took nearly a year of "following a strict diet and exercise routine" to build a sprinter's look.
