Happy Birthday, Sania Mirza! Know how the champion stays fit
Sania Mirza, the trailblazing tennis sensation, not only dazzles on the court with her powerful strokes and strategic prowess but also inspires with her commitment to fitness. Mirza, who has won six Grand Slam titles in her career, has been able to do so by being in her best form. On her birthday, let's look at the fitness regime she follows even after retirement.
Her routine starts with cardiovascular endurance workouts
Cardiovascular fitness is paramount in tennis, and the star ensures she maintains exceptional endurance levels. Her cardio workouts were the secret to her sustained energy levels on the court. She works out for thirty minutes in the morning, either by jogging, cycling, swimming, or high-intensity interval training (HIIT). She gains endurance and burns calories as a result.
Mirza uses a combination of cardio and strength training
Besides cardio, Mirza's exercise regimen includes a combination of weight training and flexibility workouts. She begins with cardio and then moves on to strength training, which consists of bodyweight workouts and weightlifting. To make sure her whole body is worked out, she dedicates different days to working out different muscle groups. Besides, she does Pilates and yoga for balance and flexibility.

The sports star prefers natural food
When Mirza wants to eat light, she indulges in rice and dal. She generally consumes natural, healthy foods without sacrificing her taste sensibilities. Every now and then she indulges in a larger portion of biriyani or a piece of cake. She extends her training the following day by an additional 20 to 30 minutes to burn those extra calories.
She does not believe in starving
Her diet mainly depends on her games. Even now when she isn't playing tennis, she enjoys the flavors of animal protein and spices that are unique to her hometown, Hyderabad. The sports star does not believe in starving or depriving oneself of food preferences as part of her diet plan. Instead, she works off the extra calories whenever she indulges in her cravings.
Mirza's post-pregnancy weight loss is commendable
The sports icon who is also a mother now had lost 26 kg weight in four months after her pregnancy in 2018. After delivering her baby, she indulged in cardio, kickboxing and Pilates to lose her pregnancy weight. The athlete made sure to be active even during her pregnancy. She used to maintain her health by indulging in less intense workouts and prenatal yoga.
