Gerard Butler is one of the most talented actors in Hollywood who wins hearts with each film he does. And it's not only his acting prowess but also his age-defying, charming appearance that makes him worthy of all the love. Even at the age of 54, the star follows a disciplined workout and diet routine that is nothing short of inspiring. Take a look!
Butler spends most of his free time at the gym
If Butler is free, you are most likely to find him at the gym. He works out four days a week and indulges in a combination of exercises. His main agenda is to get rid of excess body fat, for which he mixes up his daily exercises with a bit of cardio. From Olympic lifts to functional training, he does them all.
Take a look at the actor's weekly exercise routine
On Mondays, Butler focuses on his arms with pull-ups, deadlifts, box jumps, and floor wipers. Tuesdays feature legs, cardio, and squats, while Wednesdays are entirely about cardio exercises like dumbbell push press, V-Up, etc. On Thursdays, he hits his circuit routine with jumping jacks, push-ups, bodyweight squats, bodyweight rows, mountain climbers, and more. He rests on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
The 'Geostorm' star follows the spartan diet to stay fit
According to Total Shape, Butler follows the spartan diet which is full of whole and organic foods, healthy oils, and moderate lean proteins. He avoids eating junk offerings and hasn't touched alcohol in more than 12 years. Per his interviews, he admits to savoring more complex carbs from brown rice, vegetables, and figs. Cottage cheese and avocados are his go-to sources of healthy fats.
He consumes protein shakes before and after his workout
To pep up his workout routine, Butler drinks protein shakes before and after his daily exercises at the gym. A report by Total Shape states that the Greenland actor makes sure that his protein shake smoothies contain a reasonable amount of "branched-chain amino acids for men (BCAA's) to promote faster muscle growth and recovery." He also takes some multivitamins regularly.
