Geeta Phogat has won multiple medals for India and many young athletes and fitness enthusiasts look up to her. The first Indian woman wrestler to earn an Olympic spot, she also happens to be the first Indian female wrestler to win a gold medal in the 55kg freestyle division at the 2010 Commonwealth Games. Phogat trains for 6-7 hours daily, 6 days a week
According to Fitpaa, Phogat trains daily for about six to seven hours and indulges in her workout routine six days a week. Exercises like squats, deadlifts, weightlifting, pull-ups, and push-ups are all part of her regimen. In addition to this, she works on her endurance through cardio exercises like swimming, cycling, and running. For this, she wakes up every day by 4:00 am.
She also indulges in HIIT exercises
Per reports, in order to build muscle and improve endurance, she views high-intensity interval training as a crucial component of her exercise regimen. For the uninitiated, High-Intensity Interval Training, or HIIT, is an anaerobic exercise program designed to speed up blood flow to the body, raise heart rate, strengthen muscles, increase endurance, and improve athletes' overall performance.
The renowned wrestler starts her day with warm water
Diet plays an important role in keeping Phogat in fine fettle. According to sources, she starts her day with a glass of warm water and then consumes a smoothie, shake, or juice. For breakfast, she has milk, fruits, sprouted grains, and green seasonal vegetables. Occasionally, she has a fruit shake or energy drink after a break and eats aloo paratha with yogurt.
Here's what she eats for lunch and dinner
Phogat's lunch consists of four rotis, salad, lentils, veggies, proteins like paneer, and yogurt. In addition to this, she has a milkshake or lassi made with fresh fruit juice in the evening. She eats salad, lentils, veggies, and either one bowl of brown rice or four rotis for dinner. The wrestler drinks a glass of milk infused with cardamom, saffron, and turmeric before sleeping.
