    What's the story

Europe is a great vacation destination for all travelers around the world, especially for those who are specially-abled.

A continent with cultural histories, Europe houses several museums, historic structures, beaches, vantage points, churches, and castles. Most of these spots offer assistance and wheelchair-friendly infrastructure.

Here is a list of destinations in Western Europe that are disabled-friendly.

    Place 1

    Rome, Italy

Rome is one of the most accessible cities in Italy. Wheelchair users in the city have access to all forms of transportation, hotels and restaurants.

The historic city has ramps on the sidewalks for wheelchair users.

People with limited mobility can also utilize accessible bus tours in Rome to visit famous sites like the Colosseum and the Vatican.

    Place 2

    Barcelona, Spain

Barcelona, one of Europe's most wheelchair-friendly cities, has made remarkable strides in ensuring accessibility.

The city's public transportation and urban infrastructure are nearly fully adapted for wheelchair users.

Moreover, the city boasts a range of accessible beaches featuring amenities such as wooden ramps to the water, amphibious chairs, and disabled-friendly changing rooms, making it an inclusive destination for individuals with mobility challenges.

    Place 3

    Berlin, Germany

Germany has made significant investments to improve accessibility for those with limited mobility in several of its cities.

Berlin, the country's capital, was even recognized by the European Commission for its extensive disability policy and investments in accessibility for people with disabilities.

Nearly all of Berlin's public transportation is accessible. Several museums, theatres, restaurants and pubs in the city are also wheelchair friendly.

    Place 4

    Amsterdam, Netherlands

Being a bicycle-friendly city, it is easy to roll around places in Amsterdam on wheelchairs as well.

With its wide walkways and easy pathways, the city is incredibly accessible.

Besides this, many restaurants in the city are also disabled-friendly.

Museums and other tourist locations are also loaded with wheelchairs, mobility scooters and walking sticks to help specially-abled individuals.

    Place 5

    London, England

London, besides having fully accessible public transportation, offers wheelchair access in several conventional cabs.

This means that a person using a wheelchair can flag down a taxi and board both themselves and their wheelchair inside.

Wheelchair ramps are present on most London streets, and practically all hotels dedicate at least five percent of their rooms to accommodating visitors with disabilities.
