Enhance your pet's wellbeing with an evening and nighttime ritual
Your indoor pets need a night and evening routine before bed, just like you. Consistent schedules and rituals, especially before bed, can make your pet feel secure and at ease and encourage calm behavior and sound sleep. The key here is to keep your pet active and mentally stimulated for a good sleep schedule and thereby a healthy life.
Get enough daytime activity
Play interactively with your pet dog or walk them in the evening. Exercise not only helps you get rid of their surplus energy but also stimulates the mind and deepens your relationship with your pet. An active pet who is unable to exercise during the day may be restless at night and might disturb your sleep as well.
Feed meals at the same time
Feed your pets around the same time every day. Feed a dinner no less than three hours before bedtime and limit their water intake just before bed. Additionally, serve a nutritious dinner in portions recommended by the veterinary doctor. Make sure you use the same word or phrase every day for dinner and sleep with your pet to get them accustomed to the routine.
Engage them mentally
It is important to engage your dog in activities and mental workouts that build their cognitive powers, sharpens their intellect, and provides mental stimulation to prevent boredom. Train them in treat-dispensing games or puzzle toys. Encourage gnawing on a suitable and safe bone or using a cuddle toy as a more calming pastime. This would relax their mind for a good sleep.
Get them a cozy environment
First establish a place for them to sleep whether it is a bed, mat, crate, or your bed. Then create a calming environment for your furry baby. Get them a cozy bedroom with a comfy bed and dim the lights. Partake in calming activities like giving a mild massage or listening to calming music. A soothing scent in the air also works.
