    What's the story

Visiting a planetarium is a magical experience that transports you to the infinite realm of the universe.

These shows are both educational and highly immersive, making them a hit with kids and adults alike.

However, to maintain the magic for everyone, it's crucial to observe proper planetarium etiquette.

This article provides a few important tips to remember when attending a planetarium show.

    Arrival

Arrive early and be seated promptly

To fully enjoy your planetarium experience, it's best to get there at least fifteen minutes before showtime.

This allows you to buy tickets if needed, use restrooms, and secure comfortable seats without feeling rushed.

Getting into the dome early minimizes disturbances once the show starts and lets your eyes adapt to the dark.

    Silence

    Silence your electronic devices

Even the tiniest glow from a phone or smartwatch can be a major distraction in a darkened setting like a planetarium.

Power off or silence your electronic devices before the show starts.

If you need to keep your phone on for emergencies, make sure it's on silent and resist the urge to check it during the presentation.

Even the light from your screen can be disruptive.

    Quietness

    Keep conversations to a minimum

While you may be inclined to express your excitement or ask questions during the show, please be mindful that sound carries very easily under the dome.

To avoid disrupting the immersive experience for others, please keep conversations and questions to an absolute minimum.

If you're visiting with kids, please gently remind them to do the same.

    Space

    Respect personal space

Planetariums can get especially busy during popular shows or on public holidays.

Please respect personal space by not taking up extra seats and keeping your belongings neatly tucked by your side.

Nobody likes it when someone else's stuff starts invading their territory.

And, if it's open seating, resist the urge to save seats for latecomers. It's not fair to everyone else.

    Compliance

    Follow staff instructions

The planetarium staff is present to facilitate a smooth and enjoyable experience for all attendees.

Adhere to their directions concerning seat allocation, emergency exit locations, and particular regulations pertaining to photo or video capture during the show.

Compliance with these rules contributes to an orderly and secure environment within the premises.
