    What's the story

It won't be wrong to say that technology has become an inseparable part of our lives.

However, excessive use of it can negatively impact us both mentally and physically.

Just as we detoxify our bodies with nutritious intake, it is crucial to embark on a digital detoxification journey to restore balance and ensure optimal health in the digital age. Here are some tips.

    Step 1

    Set up technology-free zones

An easy way to practice unplugging is by designating certain parts or rooms of your house as tech-free. These can be your kitchen, dining table, or balcony.

Use these zones to connect and spend time with your family or as a space to unwind your thoughts.

Make sure you follow this systematically, and you will see a difference slowly.

    Step 2

Turn off phone notifications for social media

Social media is undoubtedly the biggest distraction one can have. You keep on wondering who sent you what.

A small notification can change your energy and focus completely.

When you switch the notifications off, you will not have the temptation to check your phone in between work. This will help you concentrate and focuse more on your work.

    Step 3

Track the time you spend online

Simply browsing through different websites or social media apps like Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, games, or shopping apps can easily eat up your time. Keep track of the time spent online.

You can either check manually or have a tracker installed.

Similarly, buy data packs with lower limits. This is another way to limit the number of hours you spend onscreen.

    Step 4

    Have mindful mornings

Avoid engaging with your device when you wake up, such as checking email, the news, or using social media.

Using your phone as soon as you wake up adds unnecessary stress and prevents you from having a productive morning.

Instead, indulge in yoga, meditation, prayer, or reading. These activities help in refocusing your attention from your smartphones thereby readying you for a productive day.

    Step 5

Invest in your passion and other activities

If you feel you are getting addicted to your gadgets, take a step back and think about the times you used to entertain yourself without the use of technology.

Perhaps, get back in touch with the hobbies to left halfway. You could also develop new hobbies, it is never too late to start one.

Try investing in physical activities or in meeting friends.
