Delhi to Ayodhya has become a popular route for devotees eager to visit the recently inaugurated Ram Mandir in Uttar Pradesh. The distance between the two cities is approximately 680-690 km and can be covered by road in around 10-11 hours. For those planning to travel by road, here is a list of essential information on the fastest routes, toll tax charges, and travel distance.
Route options by car
The most feasible route from Delhi to Ayodhya involves taking the Yamuna Expressway, followed by a series of highways including Agra-Lucknow Expressway, NH 19, and NH 27 or NH 30. The journey can take about 8-10 hours excluding the refreshment breaks in between. This journey will take you through major cities in Uttar Pradesh such as Agra, Mathura, Saifai, Lucknow, and Barabanki.
Sleeper buses and detours for cultural immersion
For travelers not willing to sit for 11 hours, several private operators offer sleeper buses with two or three stoppages along the route for food and drinks. During the journey, you may also consider taking detours to Mathura, Vrindavan, or Lucknow for a deeper cultural experience. These detours can be easily accessed while following the main route from Delhi to Ayodhya.
Public transportation availability
For those opting for public transportation, Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) buses can be booked using various applications. Tolls during the trip
Throughout the journey from Delhi to Ayodhya, you will encounter several toll plazas starting with Jewar toll plaza, and one at the exit out of Yamuna Expressway. These will be followed by a series of tolls including Taj Express Highway, Agra-Lucknow Expressway, Lucknow- Faizabad road and Tikait-Manakpur Road.
