Vastu tips for your bedroom
Your bedroom is your resting area at home. Hence, it is important to make it a peaceful and relaxing space to ensure a good everyday life. Vastu Shastra, the ancient science of architecture, shares ideas of design and layout. It aims to allow a smooth flow of cosmic energy within a certain space to enhance the living conditions of the residents.
Bedroom color
Your bedroom should be painted with a color that has a relaxing and calming effect. White, off-white, pastel shades of pink, yellow, green, coral, and some light shades of blue are the most preferred color options for bedrooms. Avoid painting your bedroom with dark and moody colors like grey, dark red, or brown as it might make the room too gloomy.
Placement of bed
As per Vastu, people must try to sleep with their heads toward the south and feet towards the north. The southern wall is the best location to align your bed. If that is tricky to manage, keep a four-inch distance between the wall and your bed. Vastu recommends beds to be positioned with no windows behind the headrest, as that can disrupt sleep.
Attached bathrooms
The door of the bathroom must be closed at all times, as an open bathroom door may negatively affect the aura of your bedroom. Your bed should not be placed close to the bathroom, but if you have less space, position your bed away from the bathroom wall. The bathroom floor must be slightly higher than the bedroom floor.
Placement of mirrors
If you must keep a mirror in your bedroom, try to position it in a way so that the bed does not reflect on it. If your space does not permit so, cover the mirror with a heavy fabric when not in use. Mirrors bounce around energy causing restlessness. Mirrors must also not face north or east as they might reflect away positive energy.
De-clutter the bedroom
De-clutter and only keep things that have a positive impact. If you use a box bed, store useful things or things that you have happy memories attached to, instead of hoarding junk. This will enable a good night's rest, as clutter distracts our energy. Try not to have any heavy electronic gadgets in your bedroom. Organize closets and clean the area under the bed.
