Couple yoga poses for physical and emotional harmony
Couple yoga is a beautiful practice that not only nurtures physical well-being but also deepens the connection between partners. Beyond the conventional solo experience, couple yoga is a symphony of shared breath, synchronized movement, and mutual support. It is a space where the art of balance, trust, and unity intertwines to create a harmonious blend of physical fitness and emotional intimacy. Explore some exercises.
Butterfly and breathe
Start in a seated position with legs crossed and your backs resting against each other. Feel your partner's back and each other's rhythm of breath. While your partner leans back, fold forward over your legs. Take three to five deep breaths, hold this position, and then get back. Make a switch so that you are leaning back and your partner is folding forward.
Partner twist
Start in a seated position with legs crossed at the ankles/shins and your backs resting against each other. Lengthen your spine as you inhale. Exhale and twist to the right, bringing your right hand to the inside of your partner's left knee. Your partner should mirror the movement. Hold for three to five breaths, then exhale, untwist and repeat on the opposite side.
Seated cat cow
Sit cross legged with your knees close to your partner's. Firmly grasp each other's forearms. Draw your shoulders back and down, finding equal resistance between you both. Take a deep breath and raise both heads slowly while simultaneously pushing your chests up. As you exhale, tuck in your chin to your chest and round out your upper back. Alternate between these two positions.
A boat for two
Sit down facing each other. Place the bottoms of your feet on the floor, keeping your knees bent. Move close to each other and hold your hands. Put the bottoms of your feet together with your partner's. While inhaling, both of you lean back to put tension in your hands. Exhale and lift your legs into a boat pose. Hold for five breaths. Release.
