How to make the perfect pizza base at home
When was the last time you enjoyed prepping your favorite dish at home? Or when was the last time you really loved the base of a pizza you ordered? The answer to the latter most likely is foggy in everyone's memory since getting the base right can get tricky, Why not make one at home? Here is how to make the perfect pizza base.
Get the yeast water right
The temperature of the water in which you soak the yeast must be between 43 and 46 degree Celsius. Too hot water will kill the yeast, whereas if it is too cold the yeast will not activate. To one cup of water, add one teaspoon of sugar and 2 1/4 teaspoons of active dry yeast. It should become frothy after five minutes.
Preparing the dough
In a large bowl, mix together three cups of all-purpose flour, a teaspoon of salt, the yeast water mixture, and one tablespoon of extra-virgin olive oil. Make a dough and put it in a bowl. Cover with plastic wrap and set aside for two hours. You will see that the dough has doubled in size. Divide it into two portions and roll it out.
Baking the pizza
Roll out the pizza dough while dusting it with flour and place it on a baking sheet. Add some pizza sauce, your favorite toppings, and some cheese, and then bake it in a pre-heated oven for about 20 to 25 minutes. Once baked, take it out and cut it into your choice of pieces. Serve hot with some grated cheese, oregano, and chili flakes.
Margherita pizza recipe
Roll the freshly made dough onto a baking sheet and add a layer of tomato pizza sauce. Chop cherry tomatoes into halves and add along with fresh basil leaves, and bits of mozzarella cheese. Cover everything with Parmesan cheese for a nutty flavor and some salt. Bake it in a pre-heated oven until the cheese bubbles and the base turns brown.
Chicken Alfredo pizza
Melt butter, add garlic; cook and stir for one minute in a saucepan. Add cream and cook until reduced to half. Add Parmesan cheese, salt and pepper, and stir until the sauce thickens. Remove from heat and add chopped parsley. Spread a layer of the cream mixture on the pizza crust, top with cooked chicken, mushrooms, spinach and mozzarella cheese. Bake for 15-20 minutes.
