Going to a concert? Make sure you follow these etiquette
Off late, there have been incidents surfacing online where the performers/artists were being hit by various things thrown from the audience during music concerts. People often get over-enthusiastic about seeing their favorite artists perform on stage. However, it's crucial to maintain concert etiquette while enjoying the show, prioritizing both music enjoyment and a positive experience for everyone involved.
Reach in time
If the performance is general admission, get there early to select your chosen seat or standing area, or to make your way to your seat once the show has started without disrupting others. Do not push or squish people in an attempt to run to your seats. If you arrive late, wait for an intermission to go and take your seat or place.
Respect everyone's personal space
Be mindful of the personal space of those around you. Avoid pushing, shoving, or invading others' personal bubbles. Allow fellow concert-goers to enjoy the music without unnecessary disruptions or encroachments on their space. Furthermore, avoid lifting anyone onto your shoulders. It is unfair to the people behind you. If sitting, make sure you do not stand constantly blocking the view of those behind you.
Follow the venue rules
Read carefully and familiarize yourself with the venue rules and regulations before attending the concert. Each venue may have specific guidelines regarding items allowed, prohibited behaviors, or designated smoking areas. Respect these rules to maintain a safe and enjoyable environment for all attendees. Do not vandalize the venue. This includes refraining from throwing items at the artists. Keep your surroundings clean.
Be careful about the camera
While capturing memories through photos or videos is tempting, be considerate of others when using mobile devices. Refrain from blocking the view of those behind you or excessively using flash photography. Avoid recording the entire concert and sharing it online. It takes away from your own experience and can obstruct other people's perspectives. Limit phone usage and be fully immersed in the concert experience.
Control noise levels
It is all right to cheer and show your enthusiasm for the performance, but be mindful of the noise level. Avoid excessive shouting or screaming, as it may distract both the performers and fellow attendees. Strike a balance between expressing your excitement and maintaining an appropriate volume. Similarly, minimize unnecessary lengthy conversations during the show to allow others to fully enjoy the event.
