Notably, the benefits of fennel tea are very similar to those derived from fennel seeds. From eliminating bad breath to enhancing bowel movements, let us see the benefits of this tea.

Fennel, commonly known as saunf, is a herb that has found uses in various systems of medicines. It is used in Ayurveda for improving oral hygiene, digestion, for relief from flatulence and constipation. In Rajasthan, amongst tribal women, it's been advised for pregnant ladies since ancient times. Research has demonstrated its antimicrobial, antioxidant effects. It has even found a role in experimental cancer treatment.

It can eliminate bad breath

Fennel tea is a natural mouth freshener. It has antibacterial properties that eliminate odor-producing pathogens and stimulate the production of saliva. Drinking a cup of fennel tea before sleeping or right after waking up can effectively eliminate morning breath. Combine hot water and crushed fennel seeds in a bowl, cover with a lid, and keep aside for ten minutes. Strain the water and serve.

Menstrual cramps

It can provide relief from period cramps

While countless women seek over-the-counter medication to get rid of period cramps, studies have shown that approximately 10-20% of them do not find relief through this approach. Several studies have found that fennel tea is effective in soothing and relieving period pain. Women who face irregular periods can also consume this tea as it is also known to balance the hormones.

Drinking fennel tea helps in relaxing digestive muscles and has wonderful properties that can aid digestion and enhance bowel movements. It is rich in antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties which makes it an excellent remedy to treat constipation and bloating. In India, a concoction of fennel and carom seeds is given to women post-partum to avoid colic in breastfeeding babies.
