Animatronic model of E.T.'s head to be auctioned in December
What's the story
Remember the cult classic sci-fi film E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial from 1982 wherein an alien is left behind on Earth?
Well, the animatronic model of the same alien's head is going under the hammer in December 2023 at an auction scheduled to happen in Beverly Hills, California.
The event will also take place online and the auctioneers are expecting to fetch a staggering $1 million.
Features
The model's veins pulsate; nostrils open and close
This model was designed by the late Italian special effects artist Carlo Rambaldi and has some stellar expressive features.
Per reports, its veins pulsate and its nostrils open and close as though it is breathing. Additionally, its eyes, eyebrows, lips, forehead, and tongue also move!
The uniqueness of this model has piqued the interest of several bidders from around the world.
Information
Before this, an entire model was sold for $2.56 million
The celebrated artist had also built an entire animatronic figure of the alien which was sold last year in November at an auction event by the same auction house. Reportedly, the model fetched them a whopping $2.56 million.

Artifacts from other movies are up for sale as well
This auction is being organized jointly by Julien's Auctions and Turner Classic Movies, both of which are owned by Warner Bros. Discovery.
In addition to the model head, about 1,000 other props and memorabilia from other super-hit movies are also being auctioned at the same event.
These even include a full Batman costume of Michael Keaton from Batman Returns.
