Capella Bangkok crowned 'Best Hotel' in 2024 rankings
Capella Bangkok, a luxurious property boasting 101 suites and villas with views over the Chao Phraya River, has been named the "best hotel" in the world for 2024. The accolade was awarded "50 Best," a prestigious ranking determined by 600 anonymous global voters. This panel includes travel journalists, hoteliers, and seasoned travel specialists who announced their decision on Tuesday at London's historic Guildhall.
Capella Bangkok's rise to the top spot
Capella Bangkok made a significant leap in the rankings this year, climbing 10 places from its 11th position in 2023. The hotel offers five dining options, including a Michelin-starred restaurant helmed by Chef Mauro Colagreco. Guests can also enjoy a "spa sanctuary" named Auriga and seven riverside villas equipped with private plunge pools. This recognition solidifies Capella Bangkok's status as a premier destination for global travelers.

Following the announcement, Capella Bangkok's General Manager John Blanco expressed his surprise and delight to CNBC Travel. Blanco remarked that they felt numb, describing the situation as unexpected and flattering, and using all the adjectives one could imagine. He described the recognition as "wonderful" for their small brand and anticipated celebrations back home. Josephine Ping, the hotel's director of sales and marketing, echoed Blanco's sentiments, praising their team's hard work in providing guests with a true Thai experience.

The organization has a long history of producing similar rankings in the culinary world, including "The World's 50 Best Restaurants" since 2002 and "The World's 50 Best Bars" since 2009.
