    What's the story

When it comes to seasonal foods, especially those that can make your winter brimming with good health and well-being, there's hardly anything as good as millets.

Of these incredible grains, there are a few that help our body improve blood circulation, immunity, and insulation, all of which go for a toss in this season of cold waves.

    Let's learn about them.

    Millet 1

    Bajra or pearl millet

High in protein, minerals, and fiber, bajra or pearl millet is the perfect dose of nutrition for gym freaks aiming to gain some muscle mass in winter.

Since the fiber in it is water-soluble and forms a gel-like substance in your tummy, it can aid in weight loss and improve your digestion at the same time.

It also regulates blood sugar and lipid levels.

    Millet 2

    Ragi or finger millet

By consuming ragi or finger millet, you can rack up some essential nutrients like dietary fiber, minerals, protein, carbs, calcium, and potassium.

It keeps you warm in winter, improves your metabolism and digestion, and relaxes your muscles that may ache or become stiff in cold temperatures.

Not just roti or paratha, this wholesome ingredient can also be added to your soups, halwa, dosa, etc.

    Millet 3

    Jowar or sorghum

Known as the "King of millets," jowar or sorghum is loaded with essential nutrients like iron, phosphorus, fiber, calcium, and vitamin B, all of which strengthen your immune system and protect you from seasonal flu in winter.

For those looking to lose weight, this millet can support them in losing weight and improving their energy levels.

Jowar roti and dosa are seasonal favorites.

    Millet 4

    Kangni or foxtail millet

Kangni or foxtail millet can offer much-needed nutrition and warmth in winter.

As cold weather conditions can negatively impact blood circulation in the body, leading to strokes and heart attacks, adding this millet to your daily diet can keep heart diseases, blood pressure, diabetes, and bad cholesterol at bay.

You can make rotis, idlis, kheer, or porridge with this winter-friendly ingredient.
