Don't throw away fruit peels. Use them for these things
Most people believe in savoring fruits with their peel on for nutrients while others like to enjoy them without the skin to decrease the pesticidal load. And if you are among the latter population, we are sure that you have been throwing away the leftover peels into the bin. However, did you know you could instead use them for many interesting things?
Lemon peels can make your home squeaky clean
If you want to keep your kitchen and bathroom spotlessly clean and get rid of those stubborn stains and greases, all you need is the leftover peels of lemon. They feature a high content of citric acid which makes them a good cleaning agent. Rub lemon peels on faucets, sinks, shower doors, etc. to make them shine as they used to.
Banana peels can brighten up your shoes
Banana peels can help you clean your shoes and make them shine. This is because potassium and many other natural oils present in bananas make them natural shoe polish. Rub the inside portion of a banana peel on your shoes and then wipe them off with a clean piece of cloth. You can also do the same to brighten up dull-green plants.
You can make rich compost for your plants
Instead of trashing fruit peels, use them to make rich compost to feed your plant babies. Fruit peels contain valuable micro and macronutrients that improve soil quality, fostering the healthy growth of your plants. Orange and lemon peels, in particular, are excellent additions to compost due to their high nitrogen content, which enhances the soil's microbial activity.
Avocado peel is great for your skin
Avocado is blessed with a good amount of nourishing properties. Its peel is rich in vitamins B and E, which makes it a great addition to your skincare. After you scoop out the pulp, use its peel to gently rub on your skin. It works as an excellent exfoliate and a moisturizing agent at the same time. Use it often for anti-aging effects.
Orange peel can make your hair more bouncy and shiny
Orange peels are loaded with vitamin C which makes your hair bouncy and lustrous. It also acts as a great natural conditioner to control dandruff and hair fall. Dehydrate orange peels in the Sun for 24 hours and blend them into a powder. Add some lemon juice and olive oil to it and mix well. Rub on your scalp and rinse after two hours.
