Warm-up yoga asanas that you can do before exercising
Whether you are a gym freak, a dance enthusiast, or simply someone who follows any fitness activity to stay healthy, warming up your body before you begin your workout session is important. Having said that, there are a few yoga poses that you can perform as warm-up exercises, irrespective of what your favorite way to burn calories is. Check them out.
Tadasana
Stand with your feet slightly apart. Now interlock your fingers and turn the wrists outward. As you do that, inhale, raise your arms over your head, lift your heels, and stretch your back. Hold for a few seconds and then release. This asana is simple and helps you stretch your muscles before you perform your workout.
Balasana
This one is the perfect warm-up yoga pose that you can easily perform before you start your workout. It can also be done to cool down your body after you are done burning calories. All you have to do is, kneel on the floor, sit back on your heels, and bend forward until your thighs and chest are in contact. Breathe deeply.
Marjarasana
Begin by positioning yourself in a tabletop position, inhaling deeply, looking up, and dropping your stomach. Hold this for a few seconds. The next step is to exhale, tuck your chin into your chest, and pull your belly toward your spine such that it makes an upward arch. Repeat a series of both these movements for a minute. This helps stretch your upper body.
Virasana
Sit comfortably on your knees and then place your thighs perpendicular to the floor. As you do that, increase the space between your thighs and sit between your feet. Finally, place your hands on your knees and maintain this pose for a few seconds. Doing this pose can strengthen your spine, hips, legs, thighs, ankles, and feet.
Malasana
This yoga pose is called yogic squat, which is reason enough for you to do it as a warm-up exercise. Stand with your feet hip-width apart and gently bend your knees. Lower your hips in a squat position and bring your upper arms inside your knees. Bend your elbows and bring your palms together in a prayer pose. It's done!
