Dulce de leche is a 'sweet' way to stay hooked to Uruguay as it's an irresistible dessert-like cream that is made with toffee and caramel. Since it is very popular, you can find (and buy!) jars by kilo at all local stores/markets.
Alfajores
Another delicious way to stay in touch with your Uruguay memories is to buy a box full of alfajores. These are small cakes (usually the size of a cookie or biscuit) and are available in three flavors in the country - chocolate, coconut, and nieve (which taste like meringue).
