5 Indo-Chinese snacks you can easily make at home
A fusion of Chinese dishes with Indian flavors and spices, Indo-Chinese cuisine is one of the most loved cuisines in India since it is rich, spicy, and greasy, unlike authentic Chinese food which usually has subtle flavors. From chili paneer to gobi manchurian, several Indo-Chinese dishes will make you drool. Here are five Indo-Chinese snacks that you must try preparing at home.
Dry chili paneer
Mix paneer, maida, cornflour, salt, and black pepper. Add a little water and make a paste. Deep-fry the paneer in hot oil until golden brown. Keep aside. Saute ginger and garlic in oil. Add onion, green chilies, red bell pepper, and capsicum, and cook well. Add fried paneer, soy sauce, vinegar, and red chili sauce, and mix everything well. Serve hot as an appetizer.
Gobi manchurian
Mix flour, cornstarch, ginger-garlic paste, red chili powder, soy sauce, and salt to prepare a thick batter. Coat cauliflower florets in it and deep fry them. Stir-fry onion and garlic. Add capsicum and saute well. For the sauce, mix cornflour, vinegar, soy sauce, salt, tomato puree, water, and chopped celery. Add the sauce to the pan along with cauliflower florets. Stir well and serve.
Honey chili potato
Mix cornflour, red chili powder, and salt in a bowl. Add sliced potatoes and mix well. Deep-fry the potatoes until golden brown and keep them aside. For the base, saute spring onions and garlic paste in oil. Add capsicum, chili sauce, soy sauce, and honey, and saute for three minutes. Add deep-fried potatoes and sesame seeds. Mix well and serve.
Chinese pav bhaji
Mix ginger and water and keep aside. Saute spring onion whites in oil. Add capsicum and saute well. Then add tomatoes, bean sprouts, carrots, green chilies, vinegar, ginger-water mixture, soy sauce, salt, chili garlic paste, and chili oil, and cook well for two to three minutes. Add boiled noodles and cook. Garnish with spring onion greens and serve hot with some buttered pav.
Chinese bhel
One of the most popular street foods of Mumbai, Chinese bhel is an Indian-style Chinese preparation. Saute garlic in oil. Add capsicum, spring onion greens and whites, cabbage, and carrots, and saute well. Add salt, tomato ketchup, and Schezwan sauce and mix well. Transfer to a bowl, add fried noodles, and toss everything well. Garnish with finely shopped spring onions and serve immediately.
