You can easily try these hummus recipes at home
A popular Middle Eastern dip or spread, hummus is usually made from mashed chickpeas, lemon juice, tahini sauce, olive oil, salt, pepper, and garlic. You can have it with pita bread or spread it on your favorite sandwich. Hummus being a nutritious and great source of plant-based protein can be an excellent addition to your daily diet. Try these five hummus recipes at home.
Hummus with coriander
This mild and healthy dip can be enjoyed with pita bread and some pickled veggies. Soak chickpeas overnight, and boil them well. Drain the water. Add boiled chickpeas, chopped garlic, sesame paste or tahini, olive oil, lime juice, drained chickpea water, salt, and pepper to a mixer and blend everything well. Garnish with coriander leaves and olive oil and serve with pita bread.
Beetroot hummus
Oil and roast peeled beetroot in an oven for 10 minutes and let it cool. Chop the beetroot into small pieces. Roast sesame seeds and ground them into a powder. Blend together garlic, boiled chickpeas, and water until smooth. Add sesame powder, olive oil, curd, beetroot, cumin powder, and salt, and blend again. Add lemon juice and mix. Garnish with olive oil and coriander.
Zucchini hummus
Packed with the goodness of zucchini, this hummus recipe can be savored even on a weight loss diet. Add peeled and chopped zucchini, boiled chickpeas, lemon juice, almonds, cumin, onion powder, garlic, tahini, salt, and pepper to a mixer and blend well until nice and smooth. Add olive oil and blend again. Add chopped parsley and pulse once more. Serve with some crackers.
Spicy pumpkin hummus
Oil a slice of pumpkin and roast it in the oven for 15 minutes. Add chickpeas, garlic, and water to a mixer and blend well until smooth. Add the pumpkin, salt, olive oil, cumin powder, and tabasco sauce and blend again into a smooth paste. Transfer to a bowl, add lemon juice, and mix. Garnish with olive oil, chili powder, and rosemary sprigs.
Lemon hummus
Roast sesame seeds in a pan, let it cool, then ground them into a powder. Add chickpeas, garlic, and a little water to a mixer and blend well. Add yogurt, sesame powder, salt, and cumin powder and blend again. Add lemon juice and mix well. Blend basil leaves and olive oil and top it on the hummus. Sprinkle basil leaves and chili powder.
