Homemade face scrubs that you can easily make
Face scrubs are an important part of one's skincare routine as they help exfoliate dead skin cells, unclog pores, and increase blood circulation. However, most face scrubs that you may find at supermarkets are packed with harmful chemicals more than natural ingredients. So what to do? No, avoiding face scrubs is not the solution but making them at home is certainly one.
Yogurt and oatmeal face scrub
Oatmeal is blessed with a good amount of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties that keep the skin healthy. On the other hand, yogurt has lactic acid that can enhance exfoliation and add moisture. Together, they make for an amazing face scrub! Mix two tablespoons of uncooked rolled oats with one tablespoon of yogurt. Add some coconut/jojoba oil, mix, and apply to your face.
Apple and honey
Apple has natural acids that can keep your skin nourished and hydrated, while honey is antibacterial and prevents acne, dullness, dryness, etc. All you have to do is puree one ripened, peeled, and cored apple, along with 1/2 tablespoon of warm honey and 1/2 teaspoon of jojoba oil. Mix and apply in a circulation motion to your face. Once done, rinse with warm water.
Almond jojoba face scrub
Almonds make for a nourishing and soothing ingredient for the skin. And jojoba oil is healing, anti-aging, and non-comedogenic, preventing breakouts. Grind about 12 raw almonds into a fine powder and then add one to two tablespoons of jojoba oil. Mix to make a paste. Apply this mixture in a circular motion to your face and then remove it with a warm cloth.
Coffee scrub
Coffee is a natural exfoliator that can improve the overall health of your skin with its potent anti-inflammatory properties. Mix ground coffee, brown sugar, and two tablespoons each of avocado oil and coconut oil. Make a paste and apply to a clean face in a circular motion. Let it stay for a few minutes and then rinse with lukewarm water.
Berry and olive oil scrub
For this homemade face scrub, you will need strawberries and lemons. Both these ingredients are rich in vitamin C, which restores the natural glow of your face and prevents acne. Combine four ripened and mashed strawberries, three tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil, 1/4 cup of brown sugar, and juice of half a lemon. Apply this mixture twice a week to your face.
