Joint pains: Home remedies that can offer relief
Joint pains can be caused owing to a variety of factors big and small. While some suffer from arthritis, others experience constant aches induced by injuries. Irrespective of the reason, it is important to get rid of this painful discomfort that can stymie your daily activities. Here are some natural and home remedies that you can put to use for the same.
Epsom salt soak
Epsom salt has a good amount of magnesium sulfate which is known to reduce inflammation. This helps calm your achy joints when you absorb them in a solution of this salt and water. Do this for 15 minutes daily or until your pains vanish. You can repeat it twice a day depending upon the severity of your condition.
Ginger
Another home remedy is ginger which has anti-inflammatory properties that can mitigate your pains. All you have to do is, make a hot compress by mixing grated ginger with water and boiling it. Allow it to simmer for five minutes and then soak a clean piece of cloth into it. Take it out, squeeze out excess water, and apply it to achy joints.
Olive oil
Rubbing a small amount of olive oil on your painful joints can ease them as it is loaded with pain-reducing inflammatory enzymes. And this has been backed by science as various animal and human studies have shown that the polyphenols in this oil can come in handy to treat arthritis pains as well. Massage some cold compressed olive oil on your joints twice daily.
Turmeric
Turmeric has a potent anti-inflammatory agent called curcumin which can help you get rid of joint pains. It also helps with easy movements of such joints. For this to work, simply boil a cup of milk and add a tablespoon of ground turmeric, 1/4 inch grated ginger, and a pinch of black pepper. Simmer well. Once done, sip on it.
Frankincense oil massage
Frankincense has been used for ages as a pain reliever. With that said, its oil can offer you respite from achy joints almost instantly. Add five to six drops of this oil with coconut oil or olive oil and massage it on the affected area. You can do so at least twice-thrice daily or as needed.
