Drooping eyelids: Exercises that can help you overcome them
Eyelids play a significant role in protecting our eyes from strain, foreign particles, and dryness. However, owing to excessive fatigue and some underlying muscular health conditions, they can become saggy and droopy. And once they do, they can cause vision problems and various other serious conditions. If you're dealing with drooping eyelids, here are some exercises you can try to address the issue.
Eye resistance workout
This exercise is about adding resistance to your eyelid muscles, which according to the National Stroke Association in the US, can improve the condition of your eyelids. Raise your eyebrows and place a finger underneath them. Hold firmly and try to close your eyes. Feel the resistance and repeat this exercise multiple times a day for at least a minute.
Trataka - yogic exercises
This is an exercise that improves the functioning of your eyelids and overall vision as well. Sit in a meditative position, fix your dropping eye on a specific point or object, and then move your gaze toward the right shoulder without moving your head or blinking. Stare at it for a few seconds and then gaze at your left shoulder. Repeat multiple times.
Wide eyes
This one is probably the easiest exercise to perform to get relief from drooping eyes. All you have to do is, open your eyes as wide as possible for about five seconds and then relax for another five seconds. That's it! Repeat this for 30 seconds straight. This exercise stretches your eyelid muscles and enhances their movement, which further improves your condition.
Brow lifts
With this exercise, you can focus on the frontalis muscle of your forehead which connects the eyelids. And for this to work, you only need to sit comfortably and place your hands on the forehead. Push your fingers against your forehead gently and then raise your forehead for five seconds. Repeat this simple exercise for at least 10 rounds daily.
Rapid lids
Place a finger each on your temples and press gently. Once done, open and close your eyes rapidly and continue to do so for 20 seconds. This exercise helps strengthen your eyelid muscles and promote effective movement as they expand and contract repeatedly. Additionally, you can do it multiple times a day for 20-30 seconds for better results.
