    What's the story

    Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is one of the most competitive exams for engineering graduates.

    It is conducted for admission to postgraduate courses, including at IITs, but GATE scores are also used for PSU recruitment. While GATE offers various career options, there are some GATE rankers who became entrepreneurs and launched their own companies.

    Here are 5 companies started by GATE rankers.

    Exam preparation platform Kreatryx co-founded by GATE topper Ankit Goyal

    Kreatryx, leading Delhi-based exam preparation platform focused on GATE/ESE/PSU exams, was co-founded by GATE topper Ankit Goyal in 2014.

    Goyal, who completed BTech from IIT-Indore in 2013, topped GATE-2014 and bagged AIR-1 in Electrical Engineering. However, instead of opting for postgraduation or PSU career, he co-founded Kreatryx.

    Notably, he bagged GATE AIR-1 again in 2018 too; previously, he had also secured AIR-8 in GATE-2013.

    Nitin Rakesh Prasad founded The GATE Academy and GoPrac

    The GATE Academy, a premier GATE coaching institute chain and online preparation platform, was founded by Nitin Rakesh Prasad, a GATE topper.

    He bagged AIR-9 in the GATE exam following which he pursued MTech in Image Processing at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore (2004-06).

    In 2009, he founded The GATE Academy. He also founded AI-enabled interview training platform GoPrac in 2018.

    Amit Dixit, one of the founders of SEDEMAC Mechatronics

    SEDEMAC Mechatronics is a company that specializes in providing control solutions for automotive and off-highway powertrains.

    The mechatronics products company based in Pune was co-founded by Amit Dixit, who is a GATE-qualified ranker, in 2008.

    After completing, BE (Mechanical Engineering) from the University of Mumbai, he pursued MTech in Mechanical Engineering (2003-05) and PhD in Control Systems (2005-08) at IIT-Bombay.

    Santosh Thota founded Smat Social, a social media automation company

    Smat Social is an innovative social media automation company based in Hyderabad, Telangana that leverages Artificial Intelligence and machine learning technology.

    It was founded by Santosh Thota, who cracked the GATE exam and then completed MTech in Computer Science Engineering (2011-13) at IIT Guwahati.

    He worked for Oracle as a Software Developer for two years before starting SmatSocial in 2015.
