Fraudsters, led by former-air-hostess, dupe youths of lakhs promising railway-jobs
A team of youths thought they had jobs at the Indian Railways, but when they visited the office to get their confirmation letters, all hell broke loose. They found that they never had 'railway jobs,' and had been duped of lakhs by fraudsters led by a former air hostess in Mahipalpur, Delhi. The police have launched an investigation but are yet to nab her.
Victims were even given Rs. 8,500 as stipend
One of the victims, Chhattis, said the air-hostess named Priyanka had contacted him and introduced him to Amit Pal, who 'ran' an agency called Green Tree Aviation. Chhattis told his friends about the duo, and they were given similar offers. The youths paid Rs. 7-10 lakhs depending on the post. The victims were given a stipend of Rs. 8,500 for three months.
'Website' was created, victims made to sit exams, 'results' displayed
Apart from Railways, Priyanka and her team also promised other government jobs. To make the fraud look convincing, the team created a fake website with the help of a designer from Kolkata. The victims were made to sit for entrance examination also, and their names were displayed in 'results'. But on contacting railway officials for the final letter, the victims learnt of fraud.
Priyanka has largest share of money, bought assets with it
Joint Commissioner (Crime) Alok Kumar said they have identified 14 victims till now. Out of the six members of the con group, Kuldeep was arrested first. Amit Pal, Manoj, Dinesh and Jitender were nabbed later. But Priyanka is still on the run. Police believe Priyanka had the largest money share and bought several assets. They also suspect some railway officials may have been involved.
