Caught-on-CCTV: Delhi youth stabbed 50 times, assaulted with rods
In a gruesome attack caught on CCTV camera, 20 men in Delhi's Khanpur stabbed a youth at least 50 times and assaulted him with rods before fleeing the spot. Locals say it was revenge: earlier in the day, the victim, Ashish, had reportedly stopped these men from beating a boy for throwing water balloons on them. Critically injured, he's now undergoing treatment.
Ashish was walking home from gym when he was attacked
The incident happened in Duggal Colony at 4pm yesterday when Ashish was returning from the gym. In the footage, he is walking in a street when two men stop him. Within minutes, 10 more bikes rush in, one after the other, with two men on each. The men then start stabbing him repeatedly and beating him with rods. No one comes out to help.
Ashish apparently had several enemies
TOI reported that yesterday morning, a minor boy in the area had thrown water balloons at some of the accused. They had then dragged him out and started thrashing him, but Ashish stopped them. The men threatened Ashish and left. However, cops said he had also had an argument with another gang a few days ago, when they were allegedly harassing his girlfriend.
As Ashish undergoes critical treatment, police hunt for accused
Locals shifted Ashish to a hospital only after the attackers fled with rods and knives in their hands. He has sustained at least 50 knife wounds, doctors said. Police didn't act on time either. Witnesses alleged cops arrived at least an hour after being informed. Police said they have identified the accused and filed a case of attempt to commit culpable homicide.
