UP: Youth 'jokingly' lights bomb in three-year-old's mouth
Celebrations of Diwali turned sour for a three-year-old and her family in Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh after a boy lit a sutli bomb (popular firecracker) in her mouth. The incident took place on Wednesday at Milak village of the district. The victim suffered serious injuries and was rushed to a local hospital. An FIR has been registered. Here's more.
Girl was playing outside her home, accused approached her
The girl was playing outside her home when the youth, identified as Harpal, got hold of her. He forced the bomb inside her mouth, Deccan Herald reported quoting sources. The victim suffered many facial injuries and had to undergo 50 stitches. Her throat has also been infected. The accused Harpal is at large and police have launched a manhunt to nab him.
Harpal didn't know his joke would become dangerous
Reportedly, Harpal told his friends he would play a joke on the girl but didn't know it could become this dangerous. A senior officer told they are trying to ascertain if it indeed was a joke or a well-thought conspiracy to murder the child. The FIR was filed on the basis of the complaint of the victim's father Shashi Kumar.
