What's the story

If you are someone who has always wanted to cruise from Mumbai to Goa, then your wish will be fulfilled soon.

Starting October 11, you can take a 15-hour luxury cruise from Mumbai to Goa.

The Mumbai Port Trust (MbPT) disclosed the details of the cruise that will sail from Mumbai's Princess Dock to one of India's favorite holiday destinations.

Here are the details.

One-way trip might cost you Rs. 7,000; will include snacks

A private firm, Sea Eagles Cruise, along with the MbPT will operate the cruise. While the ticket rates haven't been formally announced, a one-way trip is likely to cost Rs. 7,000 and would include snacks, a meal, and brunch.

"Commercial operations of the Mumbai-Goa cruise will start from October 11 from our domestic cruise terminal at Princess Dock," said MbPT Chairman, Sanjay Bhatia.

The reason

An initiative to boost cruise tourism

Starting this service is the government's way of boosting cruise tourism in India.

Other proposals are also being chalked out to link Mumbai to other tourist destinations in India and Southeast Asia by sea.

"Cruise industry is expected to grow, so we are upgrading our infrastructure and encouraging private players in India. It'll also generate employment," a senior MbPT official said.
