UP CM Adityanath's security beefed up over terror threats
Intelligence agencies have received inputs that there may be an assassination attempt on UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. His Z-plus security has now been tightened to ensure that any attack can be foiled. The decision was taken after a high-level meeting between intelligence agencies and the central government. UP ATS has also been put on alert after the inputs.
What were the inputs?
The Research and Analysis Wing received intelligence inputs from the UK that several London-based Kashmiri groups were plotting to assassinate PM Modi and UP Chief Minister Adityanath. Another intelligence input from Madhya Pradesh said a dozen terrorists disguised as Hindu holy-men were plotting attacks in UP. Reports said the terrorists were planning to target ministers as well as public gatherings.
How has his security been improved?
Adityanath already enjoyed Z+ security cover. However in light of the renewed threat perception to his life, special Quick Response Team commandos are being deployed alongside 35 NSG commandos, State police units and personal bodyguards. The QRT commandos will seek to create an impregnable barrier between CM Adityanath and any attackers.
Gorakhnath temple under threat?
In addition, the Home Ministry has issued directives to beef up security at the Gorakhnath temple. They said, "We have issued directives to all Districts Magistrates and SSPs to sanitize the area before the CM's visit and ensure that a three-layer security cover is provided."
