Scare for Yogi Adityanath as chopper malfunctions
While the BJP is edging towards victory in yet another state, BJP leader and UP CM Yogi Adityanath had a relatively turbulent day. On a visit to Kasganj, the Chief Minister's chopper malfunctioned and was forced to land on a field instead of the designated makeshift helipad at a school in Kasganj. Adityanath, however, is safe. Here's more.
What caused the chopper to malfunction isn't known yet
Yogi Adityanath's chopper was scheduled to land on the grounds of the Kasturba Gandhi Vidyalaya in Kasganj but, because of some problems, had to land in a field a kilometre away from the designated venue. The exact nature of the problem isn't known yet. Principal secretary (home), Arvind Kumar, has confirmed that the Chief Minister is safe and scheduled programmes would proceed as planned.
Adityanath has prior experience with emergency landings
This isn't the first time that the Adityanath has experienced an emergency landing. In December 2017, while on the way to Siddharth Nagar in UP, the CM's chopper had to make an emergency landing in Faizabad due to an unexpected change in weather conditions.
The purpose of Adityanath's visit to Kasganj district
Yogi Adityanath had flown to Kasganj on Tuesday morning for a day's visit. The Chief Minister is scheduled to meet a family, three of whose members were recently murdered in the Pharauli village under Sahawar tehsil of the Kasganj district. Additionally, Adityanath is also set to review developmental schemes and works, and the law and order situation in the district.
