Working to reduce government interference in people's lives: Modi
What's the story
Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his Independence Day speech said his government is "working to ensure minimum government interference" in the lives of middle-class families.
To do this, he urged all levels of government to cooperate on enhancing the ease of living in "mission mode."

"In the past, people had to endure a 'mai-baap' culture, where they had to plead with the government for every necessity. Today, we have transformed this governance model."

In February, Modi made a similar statement when he advocated for minimal government interference in the lives of India's middle class.
"I especially don't approve of government interference in the lives of the middle class. What is the need of government every day and at every step? We should create a society in which government interference is minimal," he had said.
