Chennai: Client hammers sex worker to death, dismembers her body
In a shocking incident, the dismembered body of a 32-year-old woman was discovered in a suitcase in Thoraipakkam, near Chennai's bustling IT corridor on Thursday morning. The victim, identified as Deepa, a sex worker, was reportedly a resident of Madhavaram. Police have apprehended the alleged perpetrator, Manikandan, from Sivaganga district. Preliminary investigations suggest that the murder occurred following a dispute over money.
Suspect arrested in connection with gruesome murder
According to reports, the suspect contacted Deepa through a broker and met her in Thoraipakkam. The police believe that a quarrel ensued when Deepa demanded more money from him, leading to her murder. After she failed to return home, her brother used the 'find my device' feature on her mobile phone and discovered she was last seen near Thoraipakkam.
Police investigation leads to discovery of victim's body
Deepa's brother later reported her missing at the Manali police station on Wednesday night, prompting an investigation by Thoraipakkam police. The following day, they discovered a suitcase containing Deepa's dismembered body parts. Utilizing CCTV footage, the police were able to track and apprehend Manikandan. During questioning, the perpetrator confessed to killing her, using a hammer, and then dismembering her body.
