Woman was kicked while trying to save husband
Two weeks ago, the woman intervened in a tussle between Shibu, Thamby and another neighbor, who were assaulting her husband. In the melee, Thamby allegedly kicked her and she started bleeding incessantly. She was rushed to a hospital, where she had to undergo an abortion. The family has been protesting outside the police station to push the cops to arrest Thamby, who is absconding.
Family alleges pressure by CPI(M)'s "party goons"
CPI(M) has denied involvement of its leaders in the incident, but Shibu claims "party goons" are forcing him to withdraw the case and keep Thamby's identity hidden. "Workers are coming here daily, asking me to withdraw the complaint. My decision is to fight the case till the end," he said, adding one had threatened to chop off his legs. One person has been arrested.
