Rajasthan: Elderly woman tests positive for Zika virus, state's first
An elderly woman from Jaipur has tested positive for Zika virus infection, officials of a medical college said, adding it is a first such case in the state. The woman was admitted to Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital on September 11 with joint pain, redness in eyes, and weakness. She underwent tests for dengue and swine flu, both of which came negative. Woman was discharged after she started feeling better
On suspicion, her samples were sent to National Institute of Virology, Pune to test for Zika virus and the report was positive, Dr. US Agrawal, Principal of SMS Medical College, said today. The woman, a resident of Shastri Nagar area in Jaipur, was discharged a few days back after she started feeling better, Agrawal added. The hospital administration has already alerted the Health Department.
