Varanasi: Sons preserve mother's dead body to withdraw pension

A body of a 70-year-old woman was found from the store room of her residence in Bhelupur area in Varanasi.
The body of Amravati Devi was kept hidden by her sons for over four months to allegedly withdraw her pension using her thumb impression, the police said.
Police entered the house when the neighbours alerted them of a four smell coming from the house.

Sons used chemicals to preserve the body
Devi died on January 13 and her five sons, Ravi Prakash, Dev Prakash, Yogeshwar Prakash, Jyoti Prakash, and Girish Prakash, were using chemicals to preserve her body.
She used to receive a sum of Rs. 40,000 as pension after her husband Daya Prasad died a few years ago.
The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination.
No arrests have been made so far.
