MP: Laborer held for raping 30-year-old woman in moving train
A laborer has been arrested for allegedly raping a 30-year-old woman in a moving train in Madhya Pradesh's Jabalpur district. The woman, a ragpicker, boarded the empty general compartment of the Vindhyachal Express from the Madan Mahal station in Jabalpur on Monday evening. After the train left the station, the victim fell asleep, following which the accused allegedly raped her, the police said.
Victim was rescued by a railway police officer on board
A railway police officer, who was on duty in the train, rescued the woman and caught Umesh Valmiki (32). The victim alighted at a station in Katni district of MP and registered a complaint at the GRP police station. A case has been registered under various sections and a probe is on, said Y Mishra, station in-charge, Government Railway Police (GRP), Jabalpur.
