Ward-attendant rapes woman, who visited hospital after husband beat her
A woman was allegedly raped by 45-year-old ward attendant in state-run Osmania General Hospital (OGH) in Hyderabad, where she had gone for treatment after her husband thrashed her. The police arrested the accused B Nagaraju; along with home guard Qmar E-Ilahi for not reporting the act, despite knowing about it. The woman was raped in a dark corridor of the hospital.
Police send woman to hospital after she complained of domestic-violence
On May 2, the woman approached the Banjara Hills police station to complain against her husband who beat her. The police sent her to OGH for treatment. ACP Sultan Bazaar, Dr. Chetana Mylabathula said the accused, Nagaraju told her she was creating a ruckus while she was narrating her story to a stranger. He, then, escorted her to a secluded area and raped her.
Nagaraju told home guard about act
"Later he told the home guard who was posted at the OGH police outpost about it. The latter allegedly assured Nagaraju that he will not escalate the information but will rather hush up the issue," said Mylabathula.
Ear-ring of accused helped police nab him
Though Nagaraju threatened the woman of dire consequences if she reported the incident, she fearlessly approached the Azalgunj police station. The survivor said she didn't remember his face, but revealed he wore an ear-ring, that aided police in cracking the case. A case under IPC Sections 376 (Rape) and 116 (Abatement of offense punishable with imprisonment) was registered.
