This woman fought with a tiger using just a stick
23-year-old Rupali Meshram from Maharashtra fought a tiger who attacked her goat, with a stick, and then posted her selfies on Facebook. Reportedly, she went out of her house on hearing her goats scream and fought the big cat with a stick. The tiger then pounced on Meshram, and her mother saved her by pulling her into the house.
Goats' bleating forced Rupali to take up the fight
On the night of March 24, Rupali heard goats' bleating and later found three of them in a pool of blood. The young woman then picked up a stick to fight the tiger, who attacked her back. Her hospital discharge paper confirms she was attacked by a wild animal. She suffered serious injuries to her head, waist, legs, and hands.
After return from hospital, Rupali is worried
The hospital authorities lauded Rupali for her 'exemplary courage' but now that she has returned home, she is a little worried. She said, "I am a bit worried about returning to my village so soon after an attack like this, but I am not scared."
Forest department says not tiger but leopard attacked her
After almost two weeks of the attack, Rupali complained that she received no financial help from forest authorities, apart from Rs. 12,000 to cover her medical expenses. Vivek Hoshind, Deputy Conservator of Forests refuted Rupali's claims that a tiger attacked her. He said, "Pugmarks of a leopard were found in the vicinity. Besides, there was no tiger movement recorded in that area."
