Gurugram: Pregnant-woman alleges love jihad, says husband abandoned her
A 24-year-old girl has alleged she is a victim of love jihad and registered a complaint with the Gurugram police. The victim alleged the accused faked his identity, said he was a Hindu, married her, and left her after she got pregnant. She claimed she learned of his true identity after she told him to get the marriage registered, but he showed reluctance.
Victim was raped, then accused's brother married her
The victim hails from Rajasthan and lives with her father near Pataudi Chowk. She worked at a placement agency run by the accused Vikas Sharma, alias Bilal Ahmed, and his brother Mohit Sharma, alias Dildar. In her complaint, she said Mohit raped her in January, and when she threatened to go to the police, Vikas said he would marry her. They married at a temple in Jaipur.
She got pregnant, he didn't get marriage registered
The victim said they started living as husband and wife, and she got pregnant. She then asked Vikas to get the marriage registered, but he ignored. "He told me he was a Muslim and could not have a Hindu wife. He then thrashed me and fled on September 11," she alleged in her complaint. The victim waited for Vikas to return, he didn't.
In fit of rage, true identities of accused was revealed
"I waited for many days and then went to my old office and questioned Mohit, but he threatened to kill me. In a rage, he told me they both were Muslims and revealed their real names," she said, according to The Tribune.
Police register case, medical records confirm girl is pregnant
The police have registered an FIR on basis of victim's complaint under IPC Sections 376 (rape), 506 (criminal intimidation). The victim was produced at a local court to record her statement under Section 164 of the CrPC and she reiterated her claims. Reportedly, the victim is also seeking help from Hindu outfits. A medical examination at Civil Hospital confirmed her pregnancy.
