Ghaziabad: Female stalker allegedly gets acid thrown on 23-year-old woman
A 23-year-old woman of Ghaziabad sustained severe burn injuries when two motorcycle-borne men threw a corrosive substance, presumably acid, at her while she was in an autorickshaw. The incident happened yesterday morning, 200m away from the Mohan Nagar intersection. The victim's family suspects a 25-year-old woman, a former colleague, who was pressurizing her to maintain the friendship. She allegedly threatened and stalked her regularly.
When assailants threw substance at her, all co-passengers received burns
The victim, a marketing executive at an insurance company, was on her way to work. She boarded an auto from Lajpat Nagar, Ghaziabad. A co-passenger recalled there were six people in the three-wheeler including the driver. "Suddenly, two men came on a black bike and threw a plastic bag at her." "Blackish-blue liquid" then splashed on everyone, injuring all. Meanwhile, the victim started screaming.
The suspect was threatening her for trying to end friendship
The victim's family mentioned her former colleague, who hails from Kondli in Delhi and worked with her in a Noida company. But the friendship had soured and she was trying to sever ties with her. Both the women had frequent quarrels, the victim's family said. Apparently, they had also lodged several police complaints against her, who used to issue threats and follow her frequently.
Victim critical after 25% burn injuries
The victim was rushed to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi. "According to doctors treating her, she has sustained 25% burns on her face and is in a critical condition," said Spokesperson Poonam Dhanda. An FIR has been lodged against the alleged stalker and two unidentified men.
