Bengaluru realtor murdered by wife and mother-in-law over 'endless harassment'
What's the story
In a shocking incident, a Bengaluru-based real estate businessman was allegedly killed by his wife and mother-in-law last week.
Loknath Singh (37) was found dead near a parked autorickshaw in Chikkabanavara on Saturday.
His wife, Yashasvini Singh (19), and mother-in-law, Hema Bai (37), were later arrested for their alleged involvement in the crime.
Crime details
Alleged drugging and murder
According to police, the accused women had reportedly drugged Singh's food with sedatives to make him drowsy.
They had then allegedly taken him to a remote place where he was murdered by stabbing him twice in the neck with a knife.
The motive behind the heinous crime is believed to be Singh's relentless harassment and threats toward his wife and her family, with his alleged extramarital affairs and illicit business dealings as contributing factors.
Background
Singh's history of fraud and alleged harassment
Singh had married Yashasvini against her parents' wishes four months ago. He was being investigated by the Bengaluru Central Crime Branch in a fraud case.
After marriage, he allegedly harassed his wife and tortured her whenever she resisted his physical demands.
He even allegedly urged Yashasvini to convince her mother to have a physical relationship with him.
Murder plot
The couple's dark plan
After Singh's alleged demands, Yashasvini broke up with him and returned to her parents' house.
However, he reportedly threatened her family with severe consequences if she didn't return to live with him.
Unable to bear the persistent harassment anymore, Yashasvini and Bai allegedly plotted to kill Singh to escape his relentless abuse.
Incident details
Execution of the murder plot
Singh texted Yashasvini on Saturday morning that he was coming to meet her.
He left his house in his SUV around 10:00am after telling his sister he was going toward the city.
The mother-daughter duo prepared food mixed with sleeping pills, and Singh brought beer bottles for their meeting.
After drinking, Yashasvini made him eat the sedative-laced food and shared her location with Bai, who then allegedly stabbed Singh twice in the neck.
