Kerala flood relief: Infosys' Sudha Murthy shows what humility is
With the sun finally shining on Kerala and flood waters receding, the southern state can heave a sigh of relief. Now being the crucial time for rehabilitation, Kerala needs loads of relief materials, in which the whole nation is pitching in, including companies like Infosys. And, do you know who's overseeing Infosys's flood-preparations? None other than Sudha Murthy, wife of Infosys co-founder Narayana Murthy.
Sudha is seen getting personally involved in the whole process
Someone captured Sudha, known for her social work, showing her personal involvement in the whole process. Right from supervising, sorting out till stuffing the materials in Infosys-inked bags, Sudha is doing it all. And it's because of this humility of hers that this video has now gone viral, with people and political leaders, including Union Minister Sadananda Gowda, applauding her participation.
She has won hearts of both common people and politicians
In fact, it's Gowda, who along with many others has shared this video, where he remarked lovingly, "Amma #Sudha Murthy @infosys Support to #KeralaFlood #Coorgfloods." Others said: There are some who never get carried away with money. This great lady Sudha Murthy has net worth in excess of $2.1 billion. But her humble attitude and desire to serve those in need, is incredibility motivating.
Her NGO has given 2,300 houses to calamity-stricken families
It's now common knowledge that Sudha, the chairperson of the Infosys Foundation (the philanthropy branch of the IT giant), has done loads for the society, like building 2,300 houses for flood and earthquake victims of Gujarat or constructing 10, 000 public toilets in Bengaluru. She's known for her work towards healthcare, education, empowerment of women, public hygiene, art and culture, and poverty alleviation.
