Goa issues alert after terrorists' entry suspected
Goa authorities on Saturday, alerted all casinos, restaurants, and vessels, operating from the shores about a possible arrival of terrorists. The state's port minister said terrorists may have landed in Goa on a fishing trawler. An intelligence report of a possible attack on the Western coast was shared with the casinos. Apart from Goa, Mumbai, and Gujarat Coasts have also been alerted.
Threat to institutions from anti-national elements from Karachi, says letter
The letter from Captain of Ports James Braganza to Goa's tourism department reads, "Have received intelligence input from District Coast Guard that anti-national elements have boarded an apprehended Indian fishing boat in Karachi and (are) likely to land on Indian coast and attack vital installations."
Returning Indian fishing boat may be carrying Pakistani terrorists
The intelligence report stated that an Indian fishing boat was apprehended in Pakistani waters. The boat was released on April 2 and details about occupants of the vessels cannot be confirmed. The stakeholders on Goan coastline have been advised to alert authorities on seeing anything suspicious. The letter added, "All vessels to increase security and report any sighting or untoward movement to concerned authorities."
Terrorists used sea route for deadly 26/11 Mumbai attacks
Pakistani terrorists had used the sea-route to arrive in Mumbai for the 26/11 attacks. Ten LeT terrorists onboard a boat, carried out the attacks in 2008, which went on for four days. Post the incident, coastal security has been increased.
